Can Google alert you when Bitcoin hits a price?

By the Crypto Alerts & Alarms team · Published 28 October 2026 · Facts checked 28 October 2026

Not that Google documents: as of 28 October 2026, Google’s help pages for Google Finance, price tracking, Google Alerts and Gemini describe no alert that fires when Bitcoin crosses a price you choose. Google Finance offers watchlists, news and updates at a time you set, Google’s price tracking is for products, flights and hotels, and Google says Gemini’s task monitors “are still not ideal for tracking fast-moving data”. For a Bitcoin price alert, use your exchange’s own alerts or an app that watches a Bitcoin pair for you.

We make Crypto Alerts & Alarms, an Android price alert app, and we are not affiliated with Google. Everything about Google’s products on this page comes from Google’s own help pages, its Google Finance data page, its Play listing and its blog, each linked and checked on 28 October 2026.

What Google Finance offers: watchlists, news and scheduled updates

Does Google Finance have price alerts? Its help pages do not describe any. Google’s help for Google Finance covers following a security, which adds it to your watchlist, comparing securities, and browsing news under “Your watchlist in the news”. There is no step for a price level, on the computer, Android or iPhone version of the page.

The newer, AI-powered Google Finance adds tasks: “scheduled market updates” that you create with “a time-based tracking prompt”, such as “Keep me updated on crypto at 8 AM every day”. When an update is ready, the notification arrives through the Google app. The help page describes tasks by delivery time, not by price. Its chart tool “Key moments” helps you “identify unusual price movements” on a symbol’s chart, and the help page does not describe notifications for it. The Google Finance app’s Play listing mentions market events, tracking “the stocks you care about”, charts and AI answers, and no price alerts.

It also helps to know where Google’s Bitcoin price comes from. Google Finance’s data page says “Currency and cryptocurrency prices provided by Morningstar” and lists a delay of 3 minutes for cryptocurrency.

How Google price alerts work: products, flights and hotels

Google does send price alerts, for products, flights and hotels. Its Shopping help describes product price tracking like this:

  1. Sign in to your Google Account and make sure notifications are on.
  2. Search for a product, then scroll to or open its product card.
  3. Tap Track price, pick any options such as size or colour, and optionally select a target price.
  4. Tap OK to confirm.

“When the price drops below your target price, you’ll get a push notification to your phone through the Google app and also receive an email.” Google lists product price tracking in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and India; the United Kingdom is not on that list. To stop the notifications on Android, open the Google app, tap your profile picture, then Settings, then Notifications, and turn off Shopping.

Google Flights does the same for flights and routes: tap Track prices, and “when the price for a flight or route you track changes significantly, you can get emails and mobile notifications.” For hotels, Google’s blog (17 April 2026) says that once you turn on price tracking for a hotel, “you’ll get an email alert if rates change significantly during your chosen dates”. Chrome can also track prices on product pages. None of these pages mentions cryptocurrency.

Google Alerts: new search results, not prices

Google Alerts sends “emails when new results for a topic show up in Google Search”, such as news. An alert on “Bitcoin” emails you new articles and pages about Bitcoin that Google finds. Its help page describes search results, not price levels, so it suits the news and not the price.

Gemini: reminders, schedules and task monitors

Gemini, Google’s assistant, can add reminders to Google Tasks with prompts such as “Remind me on [date] at [time] to [task]”. Its schedules run a prompt at a delivery time you set, and Google suggests “daily market reports tracking your stock portfolio, cryptocurrency prices, and the latest financial news”. The same page warns that responses are prepared in advance, so “rapidly changing data, like stock prices, won’t be the latest when you receive them.”

Gemini’s tasks go further. Google says Gemini “can monitor and alert you when the prices of flights and hotels drop within your budget”, and a task’s schedule can be a topic monitor that watches “topics across news, finance, sports, local events, and more” and runs “in response to specific events”. The same page warns that monitors “are still not ideal for tracking fast-moving data or performing time-critical tasks”, and that scheduled tasks “may not run at the exact moment a time or event condition is met”. It also lists who can use tasks; for now they are not available in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland or the United Kingdom.

None of these help pages describes an alert on a crypto price. Gemini can send a morning summary of where Bitcoin stood; a message the moment it crosses your level is not something Google describes.

How to get an alert when Bitcoin hits your price

Since Google does not describe one, use a tool built for it. Each one watches a slightly different price:

To set one in Crypto Alerts & Alarms:

  1. Install the app from Google Play and search for Bitcoin.
  2. Pick the pair you watch, for example BTC/USDT on Binance or BTC/USD on Coinbase.
  3. Set a price to rise above, fall below or both, or a percentage move from the current price.
  4. Every alert arrives as a push notification. Make it a full-screen alarm that rings through silent mode on Android, send it to Telegram too if you like, and choose whether it fires once or repeats with a cooldown from 5 minutes to a day.
A Bitcoin alert being set in Crypto Alerts & Alarms on the BTC/USDT pair on Binance, with one level to rise above, one to fall below, and a push and a full-screen alarm when either is crossed
A Bitcoin alert on BTC/USDT: one level above, one below, and how it will ring.

Alerts are checked on our servers, so they fire with the app closed, and the app reads public prices without ever asking for exchange API keys. It has no email or SMS alerts, and it is Android only for now; an iPhone version is in development. On an iPhone today, CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap both offer price alerts in their iPhone apps.

Common questions

Does Google Finance have price alerts?

Its help pages do not describe any (checked 28 October 2026). They cover following a security, watchlists, news about your watchlist, and scheduled updates at a time you choose, which arrive as Google app notifications.

How do Google price alerts work?

Google describes them for products, flights and hotels. On a product, you tap Track price and can add a target price; when the price drops below it, Google sends a push notification through the Google app and an email. For a flight or a hotel you track, Google says you can get an email when the price changes significantly, and for flights a mobile notification too.

Can Google Alerts track the Bitcoin price?

Google Alerts emails you when new search results for a topic appear, such as news about Bitcoin. Its help page describes search results, not alerts on a price level.

Can Gemini remind me when Bitcoin reaches a price?

Gemini’s help pages describe no alert for when a crypto price reaches a level (checked 28 October 2026). Its reminders and chat schedules run at a time you set, and its tasks can monitor topics such as finance and run “in response to specific events”, but Google says those monitors “are still not ideal for tracking fast-moving data”.

How can I get an alert when Bitcoin hits a price?

Use an app that watches a Bitcoin pair for you. In Crypto Alerts & Alarms on Android, you pick a pair such as BTC/USDT on Binance or BTC/USD on Coinbase, set the level, and the alert arrives as a push notification, which you can make ring as a full-screen alarm and send to Telegram too.
